The mission of Jasper County Neighbors United is to enhance the quality of life by creating healthy communities

What is a CDC?

A Community Development Corporation is a community-based organization that enables people to work together to achieve common goals.

Setting Goals

The community decides the goals. Many CDSs work on issues of affordable housing, small business development, job creation and/or training, to name a few.

  5. After School Programs at Deerfield Village
  6. Mercy Circle
  7. Individual Homes for Re-Sale
  8. Food Program (lunch)
  9. Financial Literacy Programs
  10. Housing Rehabilitation Program
  11. Rental Assistance Program/USDA
  12. Consulting Services to other Groups
  13. Serving as a Project Developer

Operation

The Jasper County Neighbors United CDC has a 13-member board of directors that is reflective of the community it serves. The Executive Director is in charge of daily operations of the CDC with direction and input from the Board.

Non-Profit Status

A CDC is commonly defined as a non-profit corporation with a 501(c)3 tax-exempt status and primary mission of developing and improving low-income communities through economic and related development.
